Product description
The division infamous during the Vietnam War "Americal Division" The division was activated in 1942 in the Pacific - at the US Army base in New Caledonia. Hence the designation Americal (America + New Caledonia) In October 1942, the division was successfully deployed to fight on Guadalcanal, relieving soldiers of the 1st Marine Division. After the capture of this island, the division landed on another Japanese-occupied island, Bougainville (March 1944), where the end of the war caught them. After the war, the division was inactivated In 1967, the division was reactivated and moved to Vietnam. Due to the little combat experience of the soldiers and their lack of training, the division did not earn a very good reputation in Vietnam.
